Wellness Wander

An event that celebrates wellbeing.

The Wellness Wander team approached us to develop a business website for their event. Given the yearly change of location and need for regular updates to event listings, it was important for the website to have an easy-to-use content management system. To address this requirement, we built a custom WordPress site for them. With stunning imagery serving as a key marketing tool, we designed the website to showcase the images beautifully. Given the high number of users accessing the site from mobile devices, we took extra steps to make sure it displayed optimally on smaller screens. This is a standard practice in our website development process, but with an event-focused website, we made additional tweaks to enhance the user experience.

Bleach Festival

A festival website built with the future in mind.

Gold Coast’s Bleach* arts festival needed a website that reflected its unique and immersive experiences. Tasked with bringing the bold 2020 branding to life online, our focus was on creating a scalable website with a flexible CMS for ease of updates. The backend functionality was as important as the frontend design, making sure that the organisation’s digital presence can evolve with their future events. The result was a future-friendly website that showcases Bleach*’s out-of-the-box and authentic experiences.

When Sitrus approached us, they were seeking a comprehensive brand and website solution. Our objective was to create a distinctive brand and website experience for their customers. As Sitrus was just starting out, budget was a crucial consideration, so we implemented a phased approach to the website development. This initial stage sets the foundation for future growth and expansion of the website, allowing Sitrus to scale their online presence over time whilst still maintaining the business goals.

Pete’s Treeworx

The natural choice.

Many tree surgeons seem to overlook the importance of their website design. Most companies in the industry choose green as their primary colour, reflecting their line of work, but this also creates a homogenised look. Recognising this opportunity, we leaned into Pete’s brand positioning of “safety” and employed bright orange as the main colour for Pete’s Treeworx business website, setting them apart in the market. Our aim was to bring a unique and eye-catching approach to the business website.

Men of Business

Developing young men along the journey to manhood through role modelling and mentoring.

In our collaboration with the Men of Business team, we worked towards creating a brand image and business website that was both professional and appealing to the youth. The team expressed the desire for a masculine and rough-around-the-edges look, which was achieved through a combination of workshops and research. Through these efforts, we developed mood boards that aligned with the team’s vision and provided them with a range of options to choose from. The MOB Director, Marco, shared his passion for making a positive impact on the young boys in the community, and this vision served as the driving force behind the initial branding and web development, which was generously donated to the cause.

Website FAQs

What makes a good business website?

A good business website is strategic, not just pretty. It’s tailored to your brand rather than dropped into a cookie-cutter template, it speaks directly to your target audience, and it’s built around a clear goal, whether that’s more sales, more leads or more brand awareness. On top of that it needs to be easy to use, fast, and flawless on mobile. Design gets people in the door, but it’s the strategy and user experience behind it that actually drive results.

Should I use a template or a custom website?

Templates are quick and cheap, but they make you look like everyone else and tend to box you in as you grow. A custom website is built around your brand’s personality, your goals and the way your customers actually behave, which is why it performs better over time. If budget is tight, a phased approach (like we took with Sitrus) is a great middle ground: build a strong foundation first, then scale it up as the business grows.

What platform should my website be built on?

It depends on what you need. WordPress is a popular choice for businesses that want a flexible, easy-to-update content management system, which is exactly why we built custom WordPress sites for clients like Wellness Wander. The right platform comes down to how often you’ll update the site, what functionality you need, and where you want to be in a few years. The key is choosing something that can evolve with you rather than holding you back.

How important is mobile and responsive design?

Critical. A huge share of visitors will reach your site on a phone, so if it doesn’t display beautifully on smaller screens you’re losing people before they even read a word. We treat responsive, mobile-friendly design as standard on every build, and for some sites (like event websites with heavy imagery) we go further with extra tweaks to make sure the experience holds up on every device.

How much does a business website cost?

There’s no single answer, because it depends on the size of the site, the functionality you need and how much custom design and development is involved. The honest way to think about it is as an investment that should pay for itself in leads and sales. If budget is a concern, a phased approach lets you start with a strong, lean foundation and expand over time rather than paying for everything up front. The best first step is a conversation about your goals.
